Residents of Mumias East constituency and Kakamega County as a whole have been urged to involve in fish farming to enhance food security in the area.
Speaking during a meeting with the fish farmers in East Wanga ward, the Mumias East Sub County head officer of fisheries department Dennis Kanuti Simiyu has highlighted the need to diversify in agricultural products such as fish farming saying it’s of many benefits.
He further confirmed that the County government is ready to help and has set aside funds for the fisheries department to help farmers in digging of the ponds, buying of nets as well as provide the farmers with lessons on how to engage in the business.
