After passing out, the fate of 236 village administrators in Bungoma County is still unknown after a Bungoma court set 15th of December 2021 as the day to start hearing a petition filed by 29 residents who were dissatisfied with how the recruitment process was done.
Bungoma labor relations court Judge Jemima Kelly termed the matter as urgent saying it needs to be expedited so as to ensure the parties involved are at ease.
She however said that the administrators should not assume office until after the matter is concluded in court, warning that if anyone assumes office prior and earns salaries and it later found to have not been well conducted then they will be surcharged.
Bungoma County Attorney Cyril Wayongó however was optimistic that the process conducted by the Bungoma County Public Service Board was fair saying it is unfortunate that the parties who petition majority come from one village.
Lawyer Brian Khaemba appearing on behalf of the petitioners said he has enough evidence of incidences of corruption and nepotism that marred the whole process also insisting that many who were selected did not qualify.
