Part of the ANC party office in Kakamega has been set on fire, in a suspected arson case which happened on Sunday night. The incident comes days amidst party wrangles, that led to the expulsion of Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala. Before that, nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi had also called for party elections, saying the tenure of all party officials has elapsed. However, on Friday during a special meeting, party members adopted a new resolution to extend the terms of all party officials, citing the hindrance caused by the Coronavirus as the main challenge to hold party elections.
Among the items which were burnt in the fire which brought down the store included booklets from the last general election, booklets of the party primaries. Important documents like the party register are still intact.
