Bungoma police are holding five boys in custody, four from St Mary’s Kibabii high school and one from ACK Good Shepherds secondary from Kanduyi after the five sneaked into Cardinal Otunga girls on Sunday night.
Confirming the incident, Bungoma South OCPD David Kirui said the police received a call from Cardinal Otunga at around 11:30pm to calm the situation which students caused chaos breaking window panes as well as CCTV cameras.
“It was around 11:30pm when we were called to calm the situation in Cardinal Otunga girls. There was an unrest in the school as the girls were not satisfied with the new principal which made them break window panes and CCTV cameras” Kirui said.
He added that it was then when police found the five boys in the school compound in their respective school uniform.
“We managed to calm the situation and the girls settled back to their dormitories. But in the process of maintaining calm, we found some boys where we manager to arrest five as others ran away.” He added.
According to Kirui, he called their teachers and talked to them upon the matter.
However, Kirui maintained that he will release the five back to their respective schools to get punished advising the school administrations to take care of their students.
Some sources nonetheless said that the boys were found in girls’ uniforms.
Our efforts to speak to the school administration hit the block as they declined to comment.
