It’s widely acknowledged that you are what you eat, and going by this moniker, it’s no wonder many people are ailing and beset by many diseases, because we consume lots of faulty foods. We can even say, with the current trends, what we eat and don’t eat are vital in all aspects. Many people have been carried away by the digital and modern way of life, including their dietary plans. This has led to negligence of traditional and natural foods like sweet potatoes, cassavas, yams among others. Packed food are the norm despite the preservatives and things used to preserve them.
Kenyans have to be wary of their food consumption and how they prepare food, in order to combat any diseases that arise from poor eating decisions. Food preparation modes also play an important role and one should be careful, for example, deep frying and deep fried foods aren’t the best way of going about things, given the oil used.
More on food consumption, we should embrace the shunned foodstuff, the vegetables and fruits. Their health value shouldn’t be and can’t be underrated. Food is a vital part of any community’s culture, and it’s worth noting that in Kenya, most communities incorporate fruits, vegetables, signifying an important part in their lifestyles for sometime. Modernity has brought a change in equilibrium, with what is being placed on tables, but the fact that nutrition related diseases are on the rise show hat the old, successful eating habits have been shunned. It’s clear we should turn back towards those habits.
A change of lifestyle should and must incorporate a change of dietary plans, not radically, but gradually. It’s evident that exercise or an active lifestyle is beneficial, but all this works if we are eating right. In many ways eating right equates to being mindful of the modern trends tat have negatively affected nutrition.
