Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has affirmed the party intends to be part of the next core leadership of Kenya. Speaking during a delegates meeting in Kilifi, Wetangula said they are planning as a party on how to strengthen their grass root support, national image and future, “We are fighting to ensure that in 2022 we form the government with others, or others will form the government with us,” he said.
The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga shifted the political equilibrium and created uncertainty among opposition leaders, who for a moment, complained that they hadn’t been informed of plans to forge ahead with the Building Bridges initiative. An air of mystery still lingered over the political paths of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, given that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was open to working with the state leadership to realize peace, unity and development as evidenced by his disposition during the national prayer breakfast.
The Ford Kenya leader, however, addressing the press after the delegates meeting, said the party was betrayed by Raila Odinga, “We were in NASA as Ford Kenya in a coalition, we suffered a massive betrayal by our presidential candidate.” During a visit to the Coast on the weekend, ANC leader Mudavadi declared he intends to vie for the presidency in 2022, and there will be glances towards the Luhya nation to see whether leaders will stand on a united front when the penultimate moment reaches.
