The Ford Kenya party has been directed to resolve its wrangles according to the party constitution. In a letter dated 10th June, the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu acknowledged she has received all filed records from the Moses Wetangula led team and the David Eseli team and noted that 2 National Executive Council meetings were held simultaneously on 31st May 2020 at different venues, “Some NEC members purportedly attended the two NEC meetings on the same day.”
She referred the dispute back to the party. On Monday, a gazette notice of intent to change the party leadership had been published, seeking to replace party leader Moses Wetangula with Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and national organizing secretary Chris Mandu Mandu with Josephine Maunga, with complaints to be filed at the Registrar’s office within seven days.
“In the event the matter is not resolved in accordance with the party constitution any aggrieved person(s) will be at liberty to invoke the dispute resolution mechanisms as provided under Section 40 of the Political Parties Act, 2011,” said the Registrar.
