Ford Kenya party in Trans Nzoia County has employed the use of women and youths in a mission that is aimed at endearing itself to the grassroots as it prepares for a major comeback in politics come 2027 General elections.
The women who are staunch supporters of the party were drawn from all the five Sub Counties of the County; Saboti, Endebess, Cherangany, Kiminini and Kwanza with the aim of selling the agenda of the party to locals in the grassroots as a way of revamping the once vibrant party in the County which they disclosed that out of 25 electoral wards, the party scooped 18 MCAs in the 2017 elections but disappointed in the manner it performed in the past elections as it won only 3 MCAs seats.
Trans Nzoia County Ford Kenya Chairperson Omar Mutacho expressed the significance of the women’s league in expanding the party’s membership and enhancing women’s participation in party activities across the five Sub-Counties of Trans Nzoia.
“Today, we have had a meeting to revamp the party women’s league, which has been dormant for too long. The women’s wing will work hand in hand with the youth league to promote the party at the grassroots level,” Mr. Mutacho stated.
Ford Kenya’s National Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Margaret Wanjala, highlighted the party’s progress in attracting defectors from rival parties as it solidifies its base in preparation for the 2027 general election.
She however explained several programs the party was set to undertake including tree planting as well as engaging in women groups in which they will be contributing funds that will help better their living conditions thus spurring progress amongst themselves.
“We are committed to ensuring that the party regains control of Trans Nzoia County in elective seats during the 2027 general elections. This is just one of the many strategies we have put in place,” Mrs. Wanjala asserted.
Nominated Member of the Trans Nzoia County Assembly, Ms. Anne Situma, emphasized the league’s pivotal role in popularizing the party and fostering interactive activities across the County’s 25 wards.
Ms. Situma urged former party members who had left for various reasons to return, citing the party’s efforts to create a conducive environment for growth.
“We urge more members who left the party for whatever reasons to come back since we have carried out the necessary changes that have created a conducive environment for growth,” said Ms. Situma.
The event was graced by Sub-County women leaders, including Roselyne Wekesa from Kiminini Sub-County, Janet Nafula from Saboti Sub-County, Caro Makokha from Cherangany Sub-County, and Catherine Masika from Endebes Sub-County.
