Leadership wrangles in Ford Kenya have escalated further, evidenced in the Trans Nzoia County assembly, as leaders allied to Bungoma Senator and party leader Moses Wetangula proposed the change of the assembly leadership by replacing the current minority leader, Keiyo ward MCA Emmanuel Waswa, with Motosiet MCA Bernard Muganda Aliang’ana. However, the proposal was opposed by MCAs allied to the party secretary general David Eseli. Two letters addressing the proposed change from the opposing sides were seen by West Media.
Speaker of the Assembly, Joshua Werunga while making his decision, said he won’t accept any leadership changes in noting that the matter surrounding the party is before a court of law and it will be prudent enough if the court’s verdict is reached before any changes in the assembly are made. He further urged the two sides to solve their wrangles, adding that the Assembly wasn’t willing to be involved in party wrangles.
After the verdict, MCAs Bernard Muganda Aliang’ana and Emmanuel Waswa both lauded the speaker. However, Aliang’ana said he is ready to take up the mantle of minority leader and that it’s just a matter of time before he takes up the position.
On his part, Emmanuel Waswa, the current minority leader, claimed his woes are being fronted by party leader Wetangula and Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi. He said the two have failed to keep the national government in check and have resorted to fighting MCAs. He said they don’t want to see a youthful party leadership in place.
