A low turnout in Form One admissions has been experienced in Friends Bokoli Boys School in Webuye West Sub County in Bungoma County. Speaking to West Media, Principal of the school Mr. Conrad Walumbe Wanjala noted the challenges experienced surrounding the NEMIS system during the early days of the admission process, citing that some students, however, haven’t experienced problems. “Few of the students who were officially selected by the school have reported. We have many requests but the system has been a challenge, when we wanted to do placement, it wasn’t opening up,” stated Mr. Walumbe.
Concerning the case of students who sent their admission requests to the school but their names weren’t tabulated by NEMIS, Mr. Walumbe thanked the Ministry of Education for making things easy since the response was effective, “I would like to thank the Ministry because they are acting very fast on the approval. As long as the students are tabulated in the system. I think through this we’ll be able to admit more students,” he said.
He showed confidence that by the end of the exercise he expects to have admitted 280 Form One students as per his school’s capacity. “By the end of the exercise we expect to enrol 280 students and many will be those who send in requests,” he added.
