A somber mood engulfed in the family of former Kenya Seed MD Nathaniel Tum as he was laid to rest at his home in Muthonis on the outskirts of Kitale town
The family led by his elder son Edwin Tum eulogized their father as loving,firm, God fearing man.
They lauded their late father for having wished the best for them especially in education and several enterprises emanating from investing in shares in several companies, as well as instilling discipline in whatever ventures they engaged in.
The late Tum was born on 1949 in Tambach, Elgeyo Marakwet and moved to Trans Nzoia county was well versed with corporate affairs and exhibited a wealth of boardroom experience which earned him various chairmanship roles including Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, ASK, the Seed Trade Association of Kenya (STAK) among others
Apart from being a great seed farmer,Tum has had several controversies surrounding his life having served as Kenya Seed MD from 1983-2003 he was fired by then Minister for Agriculture then Kipruto Kirwa, moved to court but lost the case.
He has also been embroiled in several cases including Kitale school primary land the school Alumni as well as leaders claimed the late grabbed, an action that attracted senate committee on land under the guidance of Trans Nzoia Senator Dr. Michael Mbito who upon visiting the school found out that the late had grabbed school land which the late vehemently opposed stating that he legally acquired land.
Last year, he was among other former staff of Kenya Seed to petition Agriculture CS Peter Munya for appointment of several directors Kipkorir Menjo, Alice Chesire, Francis Okwara, Gitonga Kamiti and Samuel Mecca as High Court judge Stephen Githinji issued an injunction stopping such appointments as the court was due for hearing on 8th March 2022.
Among the leaders who attended were; Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba, Soy Mp Caleb Kositany, Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi among others.
