Four days after the passing of former Member of Parliament Suleiman Kasuti Murunga, a dedicated funeral planning committee has been formed to honor his legacy. The late MP, who represented Kimilili from 2013 to 2017, will be laid to rest at his family home in Lutonyi on November 16, 2024.
The committee, chaired by Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi, convened in Nairobi for their inaugural meeting, bringing together family members, relatives, and friends. Wanyonyi expressed the committee’s commitment to coordinating all necessary arrangements while respecting the wishes and traditions of Murunga’s family, particularly regarding his Islamic faith.
“We are here to ensure that everything is done appropriately and respectfully,” Wanyonyi stated. “While we will handle logistical and budgetary concerns, we will not interfere with the religious aspects of the funeral, which will be managed by the family.”
Suleiman Murunga passed away on Wednesday night at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi, leaving behind a legacy of public service and community engagement. The committee is working closely with a local group in Kimilili to ensure a smooth and dignified farewell for the beloved leader.
Further updates on the arrangements will be provided as the committee continues its planning efforts.
