Christopher Omulele has duly been elected and sworn in as the Vihiga County Assembly Speaker after garnering 22 votes out of 36 total cast votes. Hillary Adolwa his closest competitor came second with 14 votes.
Omulele’s win received an accolade from the ODM party via twitter, congratulating Teddy Mwambire of Formerly Ganze and Christopher Omulele of Luanda for being elected as speakers.
“We wish to congratulate our immediate former members of the ODM PG Teddy Mwambire (formerly Ganze) & @omulele_chris(Luanda) on their election as Speakers of the County Assemblies of Kilifi and Vihiga respectively. We are proud of you.” read the tweet.
Omulele rose above the heated campaigns in the County to have a speaker from Hamisi Sub County and bet all odds to become the Speaker after losing the Member of National Assembly seat in the just concluded General election.
In his inaugural speech after taking the oath of office, the first time Speaker expressed gratitude to the people of Vihiga for bestowing such kind of leadership upon him and promised to be a good steward.
“I want to thank you all for granting me this opportunity; I will not let you down. It’s my commitment that under my stewardship members of the house shall be provided with requisite support to deliver in their areas of service,” he said.
Other aspirants in the race were; Julias Kiboen, Linda Libese, Francis Ingaji, Eddie Orinda, Winnie Majani, Alex imbaga, Ogeto Nelson, Briton Orlando, Lubanga Castro and Tom kisia.
