Former President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged a personal contribution of two million shillings to the Red Cross to bolster relief efforts for families affected by floods.
In a statement to media houses, he emphasized the need for all Kenyans to be vigilant and take precautions against flood hazards, urging those in vulnerable areas to relocate to safer areas. He also called on all Kenyans to come together and provide assistance to the affected. He also urged citizens to exercise utmost care, avoid crossing flooded roads or pathways, and, most importantly, seek higher ground when necessary to ensure their safety and well-being.
Additionally, he recognized the ongoing challenges within the healthcare sector, urging health professionals to come forward and aid patients and casualties. He acknowledged the dedication and commitment of all healthcare workers and emphasized the importance of addressing their concerns through constructive dialogue and meaningful engagement.
His Excellency President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to all those affected by the devastating effects of the ongoing heavy rains and floods, which have caused widespread destruction across the country. The recent floods in Nakuru, Nairobi, Homa-Bay, Garissa, Kisumu, Mombasa, as well as various parts of Central, Eastern, and Rift Valley counties, have resulted in numerous deaths, destruction, and despair.
