Former Sports Cs Rashid Echesa was today Thursday caught on video slapping an IEBC presiding officer in the much-anticipated by-election in Matungu.
In a video captured by one of our reporters, the former CS is seen in a bitter disagreement with an IEBC official named Peter Okura, alleging that he had barred their agent from witnessing the voting process.
“Sheria inasema kuwa poll agents must witness the voting!” Rashid shouted.
The helpless agent is seen trying to explain the situation to Echesa but the former CS lost his patience and slapped him.
“You were told by who? Umeambiwa by who? You cannot keep our agents outside. Why are you chasing them outside…. This is stupidity my friend…” Echesa ranted as he went ahead to slap the agent.
The official however confirmed that he sent the agent out because he did not have a face mask, an explanation the former CS did not have time to listen to.
With all that is going all, it is easy to tell that this by-election has a lot to communicate towards the 2022 general elections with political giants from Western province in a hard tussle against deputy president William Ruto’s UDA party. The election attracted 15 candidates among them, 9 independent candidates.
