It was joy and celebrations at Fountain Grammer Academy in Likuyani, Kakamega County after the school produced marvelous results in this year’s KCPE examination. Michael Maisiba managed to score 440 out of a possible 500 while his follower Jerry Muchuma got 430 marks. Michael attributed his success to hard work, discipline saying he wishes to become a neurosurgeon in future.
He said it was not easy to achieve the good KCPE results saying he was motivated by the zeal to become the best student in the country. His sentiments were echoed by Jeremy who thanked his teachers and his parents for the efforts they put in to ensure he emerges among the top pupils in the County saying he wishes to join Alliance high school. Flanked by their parents the tops students promised to continue working even extra hard to achieve their dreams in life.
The school director Stephen Wafula Wamalwa expressed his satisfaction with the school’s performance saying it is through the cooperation among the pupils, teachers and parents that managed to achieve the wonderful results. He said they are looking forward to maintaining the same and even surpass the records that have been set previously. Stephen who is also the MCA for Soysambu ward in Bungoma County applauded the Ministry of Education for having set up a level playing field for pupils from both private and public primary schools in joining secondary schools.
He said there has been a notion that pupils who attend private schools are from rich backgrounds saying some of the parents sell groceries to pay for their children’s fees. He also disclosed that in his school more than one hundred pupils are orphans and fully sponsored by the school and having an equal chance for them is encouraging.
