Four people among them fake pastors were arrested for conducting prayers at night in Likuyani sub county against the government’s directives. According to Sango sub location assistant Chief Frida Lusweti Shirengo the four were nabbed at Lukusi village in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
She said the four had spent a great part of Saturday moving from one house to another claiming to pray for their followers before they camped in one of the resident’s house.
She said concerned villagers informed her about the presence of the visitors in the area before she raided the compound at 4am with the help of police officers assigned at her office and members of the nyumba kumi and community policing.
She said they managed to arrest Florence Shisia Otieno from Luanda in Vihiga county, John Barasa and Isaiah Mafubo both from Butali in Malava sub county and their host Elijah Munangwi.
She disclosed that Barasa and Mafubo were members of a team of fake pastors who had earlier been arrested with witchcraft paraphernalia in the same area. “We arrested these two on the 8th Feb, 2020 with witchcraft paraphernalia,” said the administrator. However, Barasa and Maubo have denied allegations of conducting prayers at night saying that they had returned in the area to purchase a piece of land.
Mrs. Shirengo has warned residents against defying government’s directives to curb the spread of Coronavirus saying whoever will be found will be dealt with according to the law. She proposed the four to be put under a 14 day quarantine saying their health status was not known after getting in contact with various people.
