Form one students of Nasianda secondary school in Likuyani are in police custody after being found with marijuana while in school.
Confirming the incident, Kongoni location chief Peter Lugano said he received information from Nasianda secondary school principal that there were four students in the school who had been found with the prohibited weed in the school.
“I alerted officers from Nangili police station and went to school where on interrogating the four, they revealed the source of the illegal drug,” said Lugano.
He said the students led them to Mirembe village in the home of 70 year old John Mutenyo where on searching his hut they found marijuana worth over Kshs. 30, 000 and twenty liters of illicit brew.
The five were taken to Nangili police station where they are being held before being arraigned in court.
Lugano has issued a stern warning against consumption of outlawed drugs vowing to beef up government’s efforts against the vice in the area.
The local administrator advised parents to be checking their children’s school bags to ensure they don’t carry such drugs.
He also urged them to closely monitor their children’s movements, give them advice and ensure they don’t engage in criminal activities.
