Friends School Kamusinga will soon have a new look after an association of the school Old Boys agreed to raise funds to make sure that old buildings within the institution are repainted.
In a meeting held on Saturday, the 23rd, led by chairman of the association Fred Waswa, the meeting was meant to deliberate on measures that will help foster both infrastructure and academics. Waswa said that through the association, they may be able to raise more funds through an alumni association to help the school have a national school look. ’Despite FSK being a giant of academics in this country, we wish to make sure that the old buildings are either repainted or new structures are built that will reflect the name Friends School Kamusinga’ said Fred Waswa.
The association, through the resolutions read by its secretary engineer, Malaba Keya, has singled out challenges facing the school, including old structures in the institution and large numbers of students that are giving the principal sleepless nights in making sure that the boys are comfortably enjoying their studies, adding that through that association, they will be able to make sure that service delivery within the institution is eased. Keya added that more than nineteen thousand students who have passed through Kamusinga Boys, the majority of whom are earning, are willing to help the school get rid of minor challenges.
The school principal, Mr. Paul Weloba, who also serves as an old boy, expressed his great concern over the positive plans of the association, saying that through this great idea, the school may not experience some of the challenges, especially those brought about by the large population in the school, such as library and dining services.
‘Through the speaker of the national assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetangula, we will have a mega fundraiser in January 2024 to raise funds to build a multipurpose hall’ said Weloba. He further added that Wetangula, who is also an alumni of the school, has welcomed the idea.
The Old Boys Alumni Association deliberated on other various mechanisms that will keep FSK on top both academically and in the co-curricular activities that the school has always been shinning in ever since.
The west media director, who is also a city lawyer, has asked the school principal to figure out the exact number of old students that will help them resolve, especially on the financial pull-together system for making sure that the school tops as always.
