Every human being deserves to have a support system otherwise we would all run mad because of the amount of stuff we have to take in every day. Apart from family we all need friends and the older you get, the larger the span of issues we have to tackle and take in. We all need someone to consult, share a joke with, share our problems with, cry in front of without shame or just someone to vent to.
More specifically every woman needs a female friend or a support system of female friends. I believe that women need each other more than men do. Friendship between ladies is different from all other forms; we delve deeper in our communication and even the care we show. It’s the helpful type. You can’t lack a lady in your list of best friends. If you do, then you just scared coz women will put you in your place but men will tend to give you the special seat and not tell you when you on the wrong. A man wouldn’t understand you like a woman would.
There is more to this equation, female friendships are proving to be very powerful especially now that women have taken up more spaces in different professions in government, boardrooms, sports, comedy and even in the private sector a move that could see the female friendships translate into tangible empowerment and even mentorship for women.
Women are more emotional and know how to take care of each other’s feelings and even help them build their self-esteem professionally and all round ; it’s said that behind every successful man is a strong woman.
Women friendships tend to encourage openness, women friends can be able to tell you your strengths, weaknesses, abilities and even what makes you different. With this kind of openness, you will be able to gauge yourself and work towards success. It’s easier to develop from an honest standpoint and a constant support system that encourages growth.
Women are also Party starters which is an energy that you definitely need around you. You need that positive party energy to keep your mind off stress. To help you cheer up and get in that mood that will enable you to face challenges head on, just because of the confidence of the mood.
Any male friends or relations mainly focuses on solving your problems hence you need female friends who will definitely solve your feelings through communication. The ones with no agenda, just there to listen, love, and give support based on what would be best for you. Women mainly need words that identify with their feelings and you won’t get this from men just fellow women. If a married woman has a female friend to talk out to then even her marriage tends to be happier as they put less pressure on their husbands.
Caren Nasimiyu, a public relations graduate from Technical university of Kenya says, “After a long day at work I have to come home early and deal with family to ensure that everyone one else is comfortable before I retire to bed. Without my lady friends I don’t know how I would do this, sometimes it’s too overwhelming and exhausting but just one hang out with them is therapeutic. I get to talk about everything and my feelings. I get to know that I am not the only woman going through this and that gives me strength.”
Female friendships, sometimes, translate to women power groups which are used to find ways to develop each other, in all mechanisms be it emotional, financial, physical or career wise.
So ensure you get yourself a female friend of a female clique, research says it’s one of the healthiest relations and that it is good for you.
