Parents have been urged to take their children to school as this is the only option that will enable them to be successful in life. This was stated by the principal of Friends Theological College (FTC) Dr. Robert J. Wafula in a fundraising in Mukhuyu Friends Church in Webuye West, Bungoma County, that was meant to assist Robert Mupalia one of the youths, to join Theological College.

Dr. Wafula cited that the theological education in the college is helping many people become chaplains in schools and therefore urged more members to join. “Many people who are going through biblestudy education find it easy to handle students when sent to schools as chaplains, so when given chance don’t hesitate but make use of it,” he said.

FTC Principal revealed that education has no age limit, given that there is one of the students who is 77 years old and still continuing with his education and one of the recent graduands was 72 years old. “Education has no limit because of age, if you feel that you can sit in class and concentrate please go to school and get the best out it,” he reiterated.

Dr Wafula reminded pastors that chaplains who are supposed to be sent to schools should be capable of teaching one of the subjects in the respective schools, he therefore urged all pastors who have not yet been trained to join theological colleges so as to fit in the system.

He also stated that every student who pays the whole school fees or emerges the best in class will get an automatic scholarship.  “Mupalia, as a church we have prepared you well, given you enough support and we believe that you are capable, therefore as you are joining the college we expect good results out of you,” said Mr. Atonya, who urged Mupalia to work hard in class in order to acquire the scholarship.

Leonard Juma, pastor for Mukhuyu Village Meeting and Matulo Quartely Meeting encouraged Mupalia to work hard as he said that he also went through the same college and came out successfully.

“What you only require is determination, know what took you there and above all commit your studies in God and you will find that things will work out well for you,” affirmed Pastor Juma.
