A funeral service in Sirisia constituency turned chaotic after youths tried to block Moses Nandalwe, who vied for the MP’s seat in the constituency, from accessing the venue. The service meant to bid the last goodbye to three children who passed away was disrupted for a while due to the chaos and the church leadership had to intervene to calm the situation. Nandalwe arrived at the scene and was set to join fellow politicians in a tent when a group of youths blocked him, claiming he wasn’t welcome, and a bitter exchange ensued. The church leaders had to commence the service immediately and had barred any politician from addressing mourners at the funeral, a decision they later reversed.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula condemned the incident and said it was shameful for the youths to engage in the fracas yet the family, led by Butonge high school principal, was mourning the loss of their three children. His sentiments were echoed by Bungoma County woman representative Catherine Wambilianga who said it’s the time to focus on development and politicians should settle their differences in an amicable manner.
Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga and Catherine Wambilianga called for a speedy investigation on the accident that claimed the three lives saying it is unfortunate that the careless driver was still at large. However they called for proper implementation of traffic rules saying many have been flouting them hence the increase in road carnage. The three Sammy, Linet and Maximilla died after being involved in a tragic road accident at Makutano along Kanduyi-Chwele road as they were traveling on a motorcycle towards Kanduyi and were hit by a salon car. The family led by the principal Vincent Wekesa mourned the three saying they were a pillar in the family.
On his part, Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati took the opportunity to support the system laid out by the commission for revenue allocation to distribute funds to Counties based on population saying it will ensure equitable distribution of resources. He added that with the census exercise coming soon Bungoma County will be able to get the second largest share due to the population and called upon residents to fully participate in the exercise. His sentiments were also echoed by Senator Wetangula he’ll support the bill.
