A gang of five robbers was yesterday evening gunned down by police at Majengo in Vihiga County.
The gang was being pursued by police officers after robbing one of the houses at Tom Mboya Estate in Kisumu.
The robbers broke into the house of two businessmen of Indian origin and got away with valuables, including electronics at around 4pm.
One of the house owners by the name Amran Juma, said that they were at a party with his friend but he later went back to the house to pick some items only to find one of the suspects, carrying some of the valuables, exiting the house.

“When I asked him what he was doing in the compound, he dashed to a waiting car and they took off immediately,” he said.
He said it was at this point that he alerted the police and flying squad trailed them to Majengo.
Western Region Police boss Moses Ombati, said that the police from his end were alerted on the route the gang was using and they blocked them at Majengo Market where members of the gang were shot dead.

He said that the robbers had a homemade gun with three rounds of ammunition.
“We are going to conduct an investigation to determine whether these robbers are on the list of the most wanted criminals in the area,” said the police boss.
He added that the security agencies are on the alert and are determined to secure the region.
