Give us our dues on time, Mumias MD told
The secretary in charge of transport department in Mumias Sugar Company Andrew Wanyonyi has urged the Managing Director of that company to give farmers their dues on time.
Wanyoyi was speaking this while addressing farmers in Shibale where he said that it is unfortunate and so regretful to see that some farmers have not been paid in expected time despite the company receiving some cash from the national government.
“Our farmers are complaining, even us that transport canes complain over the same because we have never had good direction of protecting money especially the money that the government brought, all departments have failed and when a farmer brings his canes he expects payment therefore let nobody cause farmers to suffer for holding their money” Wanyonyi stated.
He also told the Managing Director to put into consideration the needs of farmers and workers of that company for fulfilling their rights.
“When we shall begin our CBA bargaining we would like it to take short time and we wish to be given our annual leave that comes after every 12 months, “He reiterated.
Furthermore, he urged the county government to lay strategies to ensure that all canes that are planted in the region are harvested by that company and not taken elsewhere.
“I urge the County government of Kakamega to work hand in hand with the Managing Director and Agricultural Chief Officer of the company to talk and agree about reforms that are supposed to be done in Mumias so as to prevent our canes being taken to other counties,” he articulated.
