Leaders and the two governments have been asked to support the elderly widows and widowers who are going through hard times especially with the prevailing economy.
Addressing the media after distributing food to the widowers and widows in Webuye West and East Sub Counties, Bishop Alex Masika said many of the widowers and widows are going through tough moments and cannot even afford daily meal and there’s need for the government to help them because most of them have been neglected even by their own families.
He added that many youths have forgotten their parents and no longer care for them especially the aged and since they have no income and cannot work because of age they go hungry and that is why he decided to support them with food which could not be enough to sustain them longer as expected and any input from the good Samaritan and government could be of great help.

“I have been supporting these widows and widowers for some years now by giving them food and other stuffs like animals just to make sure that they also live like other people in the society but unfortunately the number is growing each time and we are now getting the widows from other Sub Counties and the story is saddening and there’s need for more support and alone cannot manage and therefore ask for well-wishers and government entities to support them,” said Bishop Alex Masika.
He said old people are important in the society for guidance whenever things go wrong therefore they need care as they pass the knowledge to the next generation.
On their part, the widows and widowers praised the move and said most of them were suffering as they had no food and maize flour saying will sustain them for some time and also appealed to other entities be it government or non-government organizations to help them.
