The government has received a consignment of 10,000 bags of rice from China to help in drought mitigation, the first consignment of an expected 230,000 bags. Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and other government officials including Deputy Head of Civil Service Wanyama Musyambo were present to receive the consignment in Nairobi.
CS Wamalwa said sufficient resources have been put in place for the period between July and December, amounting to Kshs 8 billion to address drought mitigation and that a Drought Response Action Plan is also in place to ensure no Kenyan dies as a result of drought. He also urged County governments to set aside sufficient funds to cater for drought mitigation.
