The national government through the County commissioner’s office in Trans Nzoia is set to launch a consultative dialogue between various stakeholders to address the high increase of teenage pregnancy among school going girls.
Speaking at the Trans Nzoia County commissioner’s office on a visit to preside over the opening of exam paper containers and overseeing distribution of KCSE materials to the 260 examination centers in the whole County, the Principal Secretary in the State Department of Livestock Harry Kimutai said teenage pregnancies had increased in the County and asked for a consultative forum to address the issue.
The PS visited a number of schools among them St. Josephs Boys National school where he challenged the 590 KCSE candidades to seize the opportunity to achieving best results. “I challenge you to borrow a leaf from many achievers like legendary Ezekiel Kemboi who have brought great honor to this country,” said Kimutai, adding that the government would do all to ensure the atmosphere is conducive.
Kimutai said the County of Trans Nzoia will be a beneficiary of the government’s plan to hire more teachers following the success of the 100% transition of students from primary to secondary schools this year.
National Director of education Elias Abdi said the government had put in place security measures to ensure integrity in the exercise is adhered to. He challenged the candidates to be clear enough when it comes to answering questions to give markers ample time and to ensure there is fairness in the marking process.
