Kakamega County Governor Fernandez Barasa has urged the Senate to expedite the passage of the National Treasury Bill, 2023. He said this will help to address the uncertainty surrounding the disbursement of funds to devolved units.
Speaking while he graced the Women accountants’ workshop, he said the bill aims to establish the National Treasury as a distinct entity, separate from the Ministry of Finance, granting it the required independence to effectively carry out its mandate.
A 5-day workshop organized by the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), a part of the larger ICPAK was held in Kisumu County.
The Governor pointed out best practices in the accounting profession, guided by Chapter 12 of the Kenyan constitution and the Accountants Act, 2008.
The event was attended by the Chairperson AWAK, CPA Isabel Juma; Chief Executive Officer of the organization, CPA Perpetua Bulemi; Board Members, Members of the organization and County Officials.
