Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba has appealed to the government to utilize the mode it’s using during the Huduma Namba registration to manage other government services and put together other vital details. Speaking after registering for Huduma Namba in his office, the Governor said information like voter and census information can be captured through the Huduma Namba registration process.
He pointed out that when it comes to tax collection, there haven’t been elaborate and technologically simplified ways to do so, leading to tax evasion and subsequent loss of funds for the government, adding that electronic means of tax collection are required. “The government has a good plan with Huduma Namba registration. It needs to go beyond this and capture information concerning tax collection, census, driving license details so that all information is on the Huduma Namba card,” he said.
He, however, urged Tras Nzoia residents who haven’t registered for Huduma Namba to turn up in large numbers and register. He appealed to them to avoid a last minute rush and instead use the current available time. The Governor’s appeal comes days after Livestock PS Harry Kimutai visited the County and urged residents to register in large numbers, claiming the government will not extend the registration process.
Some Trans Nzoia residents have faulted the slow pace taken to register, claiming the services being offered aren’t satisfactory. They’ve urged the national government to increase the registration kits in the grassroots so that more people can be registered. Residents of Salama area in Endebess complained they are being taken in circles whenever they want to register given that the gadgets are few.
