Governor Kenneth Lusaka has announced the rollout of a free porridge program for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners across the county, aiming to boost school enrollment and retention among young children.
The program, which will be implemented through the Department of Education, is part of the governor’s broader initiative to strengthen the foundation of education in Bungoma.
Speaking during the requiem mass of the late Maayi Rebecca Kutukhulu, the family matriarch of Lwandanyi MCA Hon. Tony Barasa, in Tulienge, Sirisia Constituency, Governor Lusaka emphasized the county’s role in promoting educational sustainability.
“This program is a game-changer and transformative. It will ensure our early childhood learners remain in school and increase enrollment numbers,” said Lusaka.
He noted that the school feeding initiative aligns with his manifesto to promote inclusive and quality ECDE education across the county, a key mandate and devolved function of county governments.
Lusaka also highlighted ongoing development projects, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to efficient service delivery.
