Migori Governor Okoth Obado will spend the night in remand at the Industrial Area prison, as he waits for the ruling on his bail application. Appearing before Justice Jessie Lessit, Obado pleaded not guilty of the murder of the late Sharon Otieno, the Rongo University student. The bail application will be heard on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. As the case was going on, the Governor’s bodyguard John Chacha alias Mwita Moses Mogaya was arrested by EACC detectives for using academic certificates belonging to another public officer to secure employment.
According to EACC, they received a complaint, conducted investigations and established that the subject used certificates belonging to one Mr. John Chacha Nyamohanga to get entry to the Administration Police Service in 2006, “EACC forwarded the file to the DPP who gave consent to arrest and initiate criminal proceedings against Mr. John Chacha Nyamohanga alias Moses Mwita Mogaya with the offence of personation of a person named in a certificate contrary to section 384 of the Penal Code,” stated EACC in a statement. He is set to be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Milimani.
