Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has directed the Nandi Education CEC to ensure the project of setting up sixty Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres which was initiated in the 2017/2018 financial year is completed and ready for commissioning in three months time.
Addressing the 4th session of the Nandi County Assembly, Sang revealed that new 45 ECDE centers tendered in the financial year 2018/2019 are on progress with most of the centers nearing completion and set to be opened soon.
Concerning the issue of bursaries, the Governor revealed that his government in this financial year managed to allocate a total of Kshs 60 million to enable needy and vulnerable students from across Nandi to pursue their eductaion dreams, “Kshs 18 million went to secondary schools and another Kshs 6 million to students with special needs,” he added.
The Governor said that the remaining Kshs 36 million which is meant for tertiary colleges and university students is yet to be released from the Treasury and will be disbursed as soon as it will be released.
