Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has urged both the national and County governments to consider honoring all the heroes and heroines who fought for Kenya’s freedom. Speaking in Chemundu in Chesumei sub county during the Mashujaa Day celebration, Sang said the government should act swiftly to recognize the heroes saying they left an indelible mark on the country and their sacrifices must be remembered. The County boasts of heroes who stood up for the people like Koitalel Samoei, Jean Marie Seroney, Chelagat Mutai, Alexander Muge among others. In the athletics field, the County has fronted athletes who’ve hoisted Kenya’s pride globally including Eliud Kipchoge, Brigid Kosgey, Conceslus Kipruto among others.
On his part, Nandi County commissioner Mr George Omoding decried the high rate of teenage pregnancies in Nandi during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said the number of impregnated school girls surpasses 3,000 according to records. Omoding has directed the chiefs and their assistants to produce a list of those culpable for the teen pregnancies in the County, adding that the government won’t relent until the culprits are brought to book.
