Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged the Governors of Western Counties to use the Covid-19 funds to pay school fees for needy students and pupils as schools are set to open in January.
Speaking at the funeral of the late James Lusweti Mukwe, Khalwale said the Counties received lots of funds, “Governor Wangamati, Oparanya and Otichillo we know that you received a lot of money to fight the Coronavirus, therefore, use that money to pay school fees for our children.”
He said MPs should also chip in by passing legislation to address the issue so that funds can be released for students, “Our MPs, as you will be going back to parliament I know you are going to pass the bill to release funds to cater for BBI. I also want to remind you that schools are opening, therefore use that opportunity to increase bursary allocation for our children.”
