The Council of Governors has called on the National Treasury to release the outstanding equitable share balance of Kshs 59 billion to Counties for the months of May and June. In his address to the press in Kakamega County on Wednesday, Council of Governors chairperson Wycliffe Oparanya who was speaking on behalf of the Council said that together with the Kshs 4.6 billion under devolution support by the World Bank, the money will boost the Counties’ operations and the fight against Covid-19.
Oparanya also noted that a lack of enough test kits reagents in the country has slowed down the testing exercise, especially at the border points. He urged the national government to fast rack the procurement of the same i order to enhance the war against the Coronavirus.
