The national government has been called upon to execute a payroll package for the village headmen/women across the country due to their diligence in service delivery especially in matters regarding security.
Speaking at Mukhuyu primary school in Tongaren Sub County lawyer Nickson Sifuna said the employment act in the constitution provides that anyone having worked for at least six months in a place must be able to be employed on a permanent or contract term which at the end of the month is subject to a salary and be pensionable also after his tenure.

Sifuna regretted that some of the village headmen had been in service for more than thirty five years without pay saying it amounts to slavery and servitude saying he will be heading to court to present to fight for the rights of the group.
“I and other likeminded people will be moving to court soon to have the court declare that what the group is going through is servitude and should immediately be put on a payroll which should be able to help them cater for their families needs” he said
He disclosed the bill had been presented in the previous parliament by then Saboti Mp Eugene Wamalwa and they will now be aiming to have the court grant the order to have the service group included in a government’s payroll from the services they have been providing to the citizens.
However in his own initiative Sifuna promised to knit uniforms for village headmen and women across the sub county saying they need to be identified in their own unique way after wholeheartedly offering themselves to work for the people at the grass root level.
On the other hand he donated iron sheets to Mukhuyu primary school and called upon parents to support education initiatives so as to have their children attain quality education to enable them attain their goals in life.
He further challenged to government to dwell on improving infrastructure in schools saying it will boost the morale of children to go to school and that of other stakeholders to continue supporting other programs in the education sector.
