Kakamega high school’s Green commandos thrashed Butere boys 3-0 in the county finals on Friday evening to book a ticket to Turkana county secondary schools regional games.
Playing in full green uniform, the green commandos showed their potential of winning by their confidence during the first fifteen minutes.
The deadlock was opened in the 16th minute after Kakamega’s winger, Mwangi was brought down outside the box allowing the referee to award them a free kick.

The ten time champions’ skipper Henry Juma Okumu could not have made a mistake but to put the ball behind the net for the first goal.
Butere pushed for an equaliser before the half time but all their efforts were in vain.
Five minutes after the half time, Juma was in the scoreline again making his opponents lose hope for a slot in the Turkana regionals.
The fascinating match was however made easy in the 78th minute, when Juma assured the Nation wide league participants a place in the regionals putting his 3rd and hat trick behind the net.
After the match the Green commandos head coach Mr. Brenden Muinamo indicated discipline as their shield in winning all the matches.
“Am very proud of my boys. They don’t disappoint in discipline. It is due to this that have made them achieve this. We also try to balance the class work with games so as our players won’t miss academic part.” He said.
He also promised his fans the best in the regionals, saying they shall not under estimate any team.
“Any qualified team is capable of winning. But we always trust ourselves and believe we are the best. We shall do our best to clinch a ticket to the national.” Added Brenden.
However, Kakamega qualified without conceding any goal from the group stages to the final.
In girls category, Bishop Njenga secondary school eliminated their counterparts Butere girls in the final through penalty shoot outs after finishing 3-3 in the extra time.
Having qualified to the final through penalty shoot outs, Bishop Njenga could not have made any mistake out of experience scoring all 5 kicks while Butere losing a single kick. Both finals were played at the Mumias Sugar Complex stadium.
In Trans Nzoia county, the final match between Kitale’s St. Antony and Cherangany boys was forced to stop in the 75th minute after the referee awarded the Kitale based a controversial penalty.
By this time, the teams had drew 2-2 making Cherangany players to refuse the penalty to be taken.
In West Pokot county, Kapenguria boys booked a place in the regionals after beating Chewoyiet 2-1 in the county final.
In girls category, the East African champions Tartar girls were held by Nasokol girls to penalty shoot outs, scoring 6 to qualify while Nasokol lost 2.
The North Rift Regional finals are however expected to take place in Turkana county from 12th of July.
