More than forty groups among them women and youth groups from Ndalu – Tabani ward in Tongaren constituency received one month chicks as an empowerment booster. Talking during the distribution of chicks to various groups in Tabani market, area member of county assembly Mr. Nathaniel Asenaka said his main aim is to make sure that he together with the ward leadership fight poverty by investing a lot in viable projects that will benefit common mwananchi directly.
Asenaka added that in the next two months time he will have distributed more than 15000 chicks to several groups in the whole ward in a fair way. He said the assessment of groups to benefit was done in a fair and transparent manner and every group ranging from the women, youths and people living with disabilities were captured too and given the first priority. ” We coordinated well with my ward staff and at the county level to make sure that this dream is realized and I really appreciate the good relationship we have between the executive and the myself and that has led to this and many other projects which are going on and others are underway, therefore let’s continue fostering this cordial relationship from the top to the villages “, said Hon. Asenaka.
However, he urged the groups that received the chicks to take good care of them and make sure that all of them survive so that they can be of importance in the future by adding to the family income. On his part the ward representative Mr. Evans Sasakah who is also acting in other two wards namely Soysambu – Mitua ward and Tongaren, hailed the good cooperation he has had with the area MCA saying the project is of its kind and it is going to benefit common mwananchi by boosting their income directly and indirectly. He added that as county leadership they will monitor closely to make sure that they support farmers and groups so that the chicks can grow and be of greater benefit to the groups and community at large.
“Our area MCA has done his part and what remains is your part to make sure the project succeeds and as a county on executive wing we will provide you with expertise so that you can succeed and therefore don’t hesitate to contact us for further information on the issues of raring chicks”, said Mr. Sasakah. He appealed to the residents of Ndalu – Tabani ward to support the agenda of the county government under stewardship of governor Wycliffe Wangamati adding that its only through embracing leadership that development can be realized up to the villages hailing the county boss for doing great for the people of Tongaren constituency at large and asked people to fully support him to achieve more.
The occasion was attended by the county Cec in charge of trade and industry Mr. Gregory Mabonga Naulikha who hailed the MCA for identifying viable projects that are related to common man but criticized some MCAs whom he says have put a lot of resources to some projects that have remained dormant, ” there are some projects across the county like that of bodaboda sheds that have been abandoned by the very people and even after using a lot of money they have failed to serve the purpose they were made to and this is wasting of resources”, said Mr. Mabonga.
He added that the county government is committed to serve the great people of Bungoma county and said chicken have ready market and therefore the project is great for the people of Ndalu. Agriculture Cec Mr. Chirasha Makanda said the ministry is keen on the project and its going to send specialized personnel to continue sensitizing farmers on chicken rearing adding that the county recently employed more extension officers and they will help in maintaining the chicks.
