Harambee stars drops 1 place in FIFA rankings
The downfall of Harambee Stars in Fifa rankings continues as the side has slipped a place down to 116th position according to the list released on Wednesday 5 May
In February, Harambee Stars were ranked at position 99 then dropped four places to 103 in March before swinging to position 115 in April.
The drop can be attributed to the team’s inability to play friendly matches.
This year, Harambee Stars have played two competitive matches, both against Guinea Bissau in the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, and lost both by 2-0 aggregate score.
Uganda still rides high in East Africa in the 72nd position, with Rwanda lying in 87th position. Tanzania is ranked 129th, an improvement of one position as compared to last month. Burundi and Ethiopia stand at positions 122 and 123 respectively
Sudan and Tanzania have moved up by one place each to 128th and 129th while South Sudan is still at number 155. Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia are tied at position 204.
Argentina is at the summit of the world table while Algeria and African champions Ivory Coast are the top African teams at position 33 and 34 respectively.
Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia and Germany complete the first five best countries in the World.
Ingwe set to drop up to 8 players
Defender Erick Masika and Khalid Jumaan are some of the top profile players set to be released by AFC Leopards in the next transfer window.
Ingwe struggled to sign quality players in the last transfer window, thanks to financial struggles, and by the time betting firm SportPesa came aboard, time to bring in valuable assets was limited.
Reliable source from Ingwe camp has revealed that Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert is keen to axe up to eight players, and sign those, who can help the club win the league for the first time since 1998.
“There are many fringe players who the coach wants to release, Jumaan has not been impressive this season same as Masika, both have struggled to make it into match day squads. Minnaert is undecided whether he shall give Nasio last chance, or whether he shall stay. But the first two including Emuge are going, that is for sure.” The source said.
Clement Mata and Tom Murila are also rumored to be on their way out.
Ingwe has lost their last three matches in all competitions, and they have a tricky fixture against Posta Rangers during the weekend.
