The County Government of Kakamega will upgrade Mbande – Makhukhuni and Lwandeti- River Nzoia Roads to bitumen standards to ease communication in the area.
Speaking at Makhukhuni Primary School in Chevaywa ward, Matete Sub-County during a retirement farewell party for the school head teacher Mrs. Selpher Wetiva Barasa, Kakamega County Deputy Governor , Ayub Savula said plans were ongoing for the tarmacking of the two roads.
He reiterated that Governor Barasa’s government is focused on improving the County’s road network as promised during last year’s electioneering period to enhance connectivity and spur economic growth across the County.
He noted that the upgrade will ease movement and improve access to markets and health facilities.
He however assured residents that as a short term mitigation plan the County has set aside sh.10 million for maintenance of the Mbande – Makhukhuni road to all weather roads.
He further said that the County government of Kakamega is determined to initiate sustainable projects in every corner of the County for the benefit of residents.
