As other Counties in the country are facing the strike axe due to delayed medical workers salaries, health services in all the facilities in Nandi went on as usual without any strike.
This is after the County administration of Nandi paid the salaries on time before the time of the strike notice issued last week by the Doctors who had threatened to strike if their demands could not have been met by the agreed time elapsed.
Speaking to the press in North Rift region the Kenya Medical practitioners, pharmacists and dentists union Chairperson Dr. Darwin Ambuchi said that all the health workers in Nandi and from the entire North Rift region have been paid by their respective Counties thus there was no need to strike again.
“I can confirm that we have been paid our Salaries and that is why we have not participated in the said strike because the County governments have heed to our calls.” Ambuchi confirmed.
Last week, Doctors had issued a strike notice if incase the salaries could continue delaying a situation which made or prompted Counties administration to act swiftly in order to avert the strike which could have paralyzed the health sector.
On the other, the County Government of Nandi Head of Public Service Dr. Francis Sang while speaking to the media in his office confirmed that no health worker in Nandi has not received his/her salary thus health services are not disrupted at all.
Sang cited that the County had made plans and arrangements with banks to ensure health workers receive their salaries on time as they await the National treasury to act.
