Patients in public hospitals in Kakamega County were left stranded with doctors failing to report for duty due after the nationwide doctors strike commenced on Monday.
A spot check by the press in most health facilities in the area revealed that the patients’ despair brought about by the nurses’ strike was worsened due to the strike. Residents have now called on the concerned parties to quickly resolve the issue in order to avert a looming catastrophe.
However, the only source of hope for those who can’t afford private hospitals in the area, is an administration police dispensary which is offering health services that are less sophisticated.
The dispensary however, may soon be overwhelmed by the surging numbers of patients if more support is not considered.
