Hon. Martin Pepela Wanyonyi today visited Ondoti ADC Primary School to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains. During his visit, he assured the school community that four new classrooms would be built in due course, addressing the urgent need for improved educational facilities.
Expressing concern over the lack of electricity in the area, Hon. Pepela announced plans to expand access through his Stima Mashinani program, ensuring that every village benefits from reliable electricity. “We are committed to bringing light to our communities, which is essential for development and growth,” he stated.
In addition to educational improvements, Hon. Pepela promised that the Misemwa-Wabukhonyi Road would undergo maintenance in the coming weeks to facilitate better movement for residents and enhance connectivity within the region.
This afternoon, Hon. Pepela attended the launch of a trade loan initiative for SMEs, spearheaded by H.E. Governor Ken Lusaka. He hailed the initiative as a significant milestone for local economic empowerment, noting its synergy with the Uwezo Fund at the CDF level.
On a national level, Hon. Pepela voiced his opposition to the consolidation of bursaries under the Ministry of Education, citing past delays in disbursement that have affected schools. “We must protect our students’ right to education and ensure timely funding,” he emphasized.
In light of rising insecurity in Webuye Town, Hon. Pepela has urged local security agencies to step up their efforts to safeguard the lives and property of residents. “We cannot afford to compromise the safety of our community; decisive action is needed now,” he warned.
The launch was attended by various MCAs and County Government officials, underscoring a collaborative effort to address the pressing issues facing the community. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to fostering development and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
