Residents of Kwanza in Kwanza constituency in Trans Nzoia county woke up to a shocking incident after a woman cut off his husband’s private parts at night. The issue stemmed from a family scuffle, with the wife claiming that she hadn’t been involved in the purchase of land. She accused the husband of using money meant for family use to buy the piece of land.
According to the victim, Shadrack Sikuku, he said that the two worked hard for the money and even sold sugarcane and maize, and had collected a total of Kshs. 200,000. He then used the money to purchase two and a half acres of land in a nearby village, but his wife criticized the decision after he informed her.
He claimed the wife started being rude to him, “She treated me with contempt, I was an outsider in my own house and she never wanted us to talk about anything concerning developments in our family,” said Sikuku, adding that she denied him food, and they used to sleep in separate rooms.
The husband disclosed that the situation grew from worse to worst as days prolonged and he sought some advice from elders in the area who came and tried to solve the problem. He said that she even denied him his conjugal rights, and the situation reached a boiling point when she attacked him with a knife and cut his private parts leaving him in a lot of pain. She then ran away to the Kwanza sub-county hospital claiming to have been assaulted by the husband and asked to be treated.
He said he found the wife at the hospital pretending that she was assaulted as he too sought for treatment from the same facility. The wife was already preparing to fill a P3 form to be used as evidence against the husband, and the nurses at the hospital didn’t want to treat him, and he ended up at the police station. The police intervened and finally he underwent an operation at the hospital. The wife Helen Nanjala later pleaded guilty, saying she took drastic action after learning what he had done, claiming the land was overvalued
On her part, the wife Helen Nanjala pleaded guilty and said the husband took the cash that they had obtained to purchase land without her knowledge claiming that the money that he used to purchase the land was overvalued. She also said the husband had other relationships outside marriage and that’s why she had denied him conjugal rights.
Some of the residents from the area condemned the incident saying the action that was taken by the wife against his husband was regrettable. The incident was confirmed by the Administration police commandant for Kwanza Sub County Vincent Khamala who said the suspect had been arrested and is expected to be presented in court on charges of causing bodily harm to her husband. He advised residents to find a better method of solving their problems instead of engaging in violence that could lead to injury of one in the family
