Bungoma County Senatorial aspirant Mwambu Mabonga has assured Bungoma County residents that he is still in the race and will be contesting on a UDA ticket in the 8th December by-elections.
Mwambu said this during a stakeholders meeting in Tongaren constituency where he used the opportunity to urge Bungoma electorates to consider him in the coming by-elections and promised to work with other leaders; from the President who is also the UDA party leader down to grass root leaders for the better of Bungoma people’s lives.
Leaders from the area led by Moses Khisa revealed that they will elect a leader who will represent Bungoma people without considering party affiliations or tribal inclinations but one who will be considerate, as he used the platform to drum support for Mwambu.
However, he said as a region they have gone through many challenges which need attention, therefore urged Tongaren residents to elect a leader of their choice but not one who is imposed on them.
Women leader, Bilha Wafula stated that according to Mwambu’s political experience he is the only suitable candidate for the Senatorial seat for he will represent Bungoma County well since he has ever served as an elected leader thus urged Tongaren residents to come out in large numbers come 8th December and vote overwhelmingly for him.
Mwambu however, urged his supporters and Bungoma electorates in general to ignore any innuendos that UDA will not field a Senatorial candidate as he added that it is a desperate attempt by his opponents to hoodwink and subvert the will of the people.
