Education CS Prof. George Magoha has reiterated that the new curriculum’s implementation will not be stopped and that he has received orders from President Uhuru Kenyatta that he seeks to implement. Speaking at the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) annual conference, CS Magoha urged those who are still opposed to the Competence Based Curriculum to support it. “Please come on board but don’t come on board saying please roll this thing back. I have my orders from my employer, which I will defend with the last drop of my blood.”
He said he has already visited over fifty primary schools randomly to confirm the progress. He lauded the capacity of teachers to engage the pupils in schools he has visited so far, saying the children are being empowered even in the grassroots. The Education CS has come under fire from the KNUT leadership, notably KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion, who said he is hard to deal with. However, CS Magoha has faulted the claims, saying he was trained to be a servant leader and a leader by example. He said he shall be firm to himself and to the teachers.
