West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has called on Kenyans to ignore fraudulent pollsters ahead of the August General Election.

The County boss singled out Mizani Pollster accusing it of issuing fake opinion polls.

Governor Lonyangapuo who is defending his seat on the Kenya Union Party (KUP) rubbished the recent opinion polls by Mizani saying that the pollster is being used by allies of Deputy President William Ruto to confuse the electorate.

He noted that the opinion polls placed all the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidates on top and should not be trusted.

Prof. Lonyangapuo claimed that the results had been doctored and the research may have been done in Kapenguria town by DP Ruto allies.

“This is something that somebody just sat in his office came up with and published for the sake of giving some people mileage,” he said.

He pointed out that they have traversed the County and “they know the facts.

The County boss asked residents in West Pokot to ignore and not to be swayed by the pollsters.

“There is no Kachapin here. The ground is hostile to him and he has nowhere to go. They have computerized everything and the sample size was only 650 people among 20,000. They buy those whom they interview,” said Prof Lonyangapuo.

He warned the United Democratic Alliance leaders over politics of hate, malpractice and incitement and insults to Pokot leaders hence called on the government to track their phones.

He said that leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto should be ready for a bruising battle in the County.

“William Ruto is their headmaster. I want to warn the UDA leaders in this County,” he said.

Governor Lonyangapuo has slammed Deputy President William Ruto and his allies for interfering with West Pokot County politics.

“Let us minimize political noise and groupings. I have asked and written a letter to some of the politicians to stop visiting the County and incite locals.” He said.

Prof. Lonyangapuo said that politicians from outside the County were visiting the County just to abuse leaders and incite locals.

He slammed the UDA brigade naming Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang  for frequently visiting the County abusing and demeaning other leaders.

“Kipchumba Murkomen and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang were my students in college. We took dowry for Sang while in the Senate.  I have written a letter to those leaders and they must style up. Sang has been coming here in the morning and evening to insult Pokot leaders,” he said.

He asked Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties to vote out the two leaders.

“They must keep off from our politics. Am a party leader of the Kenya Union Party (KUP),” he said.

In the recent opinion poll by Mizani on 20th May, Governor Lonyangapuo had 44.0 percent  Former West Pokot Governor  had 47.6 percent , while Deputy Governor Dr Nicholas Atudonyang had 8.3 percent.

He said that they will not allow leader’s to traverse the County looking for voters if at all they will be coming for meaningful and development oriented politics.

Pokot South MP David Pkosing who endorsed Lonyangapuo called on residents to vote for him.

“I have consulted my family and they told me to support Lonyangapuo. In 2017 I didn’t vote for Lonyangapuo but this time round I will be the first to vote for him. I have a reason for that,” he said.
