According to recent Word Bank report on Kenyans Economic Update, it shows that one out of three Kenyans households is lacking essential and basic foodstuffs as some of them tend to sleep hungry.
The inability to access staple foods is as a result of the increase in price of food commodities by 36% with higher rates of 38% experienced in most rural areas as the report released in June 2022 indicates.
The report also indicates that over 3.1 million Kenyans living in counties with arid and semi arid areas are food insecure, according to World Bank report the situation could worsen based on below average rains, which may hamper the agricultural performance of the country.
