Recent events have seen the appointed Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance party; The current ruling party of Kenya being on the receiving end of the top and loyal members of other affiliate parties that form the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Cleophas Wakhungu Malala, The immediate former Senator of Kakamega County who until now enjoys a massive following from the youths of many parts of the known Western Region, is a gentleman who seems to utilize his literature knowledge in the current political arena in the country.
When Cleophas Malala speaks, the media picks. The big question might be; is Malala a political hustler? Who does he represent when he opens his mouth in any event?
In September, Cleophas Malala re-ignited the call for ANC and Ford Kenya Parties to dissolve and join the ruling party UDA. Most members of the two affiliate Parties of Kenya Kwanza from the Western region spitted fire back at him. The only reason according to Malala to push for the dissolving of the other affiliate parties is to make UDA a formidable force in the long coming general elections.
Most senior members of Ford Kenya and ANC parties were furious about Malala’s utterance while terming it as disrespect to the two “home” parties that changed the 2022 Presidential election. What baffled the members of Ford Kenya and ANC was the silence of the Party leader of UDA on the matter.
On 29th of September 2023, at Bomas of Kenya during the UDA’s National Governing Council meeting and while addressing members, President William Ruto who is also the UDA Party leader softly addressed the matter.
“To all the affiliate parties in the Kenya Kwanza coalition, we only need your consent to join us (UDA) but not by force as some of us put it.” The Head of State said softly
Just a day before Kenya celebrated her Huduma Day, The vocal Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa called on the UDA National Executive Council to dismiss Cleophas Malala as Secretary General of the Party otherwise he will be forced to persuade other members to march and eject him from the hustlers Center.
“It’s becoming clear that Cleophas Malala has been hired by ODM and its sympathizers to wreck the Kenya Kwanza coalition from within. I have been furnished with evidence that indicates that he (Malala) is receiving money from ODM and its sympathizers to wreck the coalition from within.” He roared.
Further, this Member of Parliament who plans to run for Bungoma Governorship in the 2027 general election insists that it’s sad that Malala questions the eligibility of the two top leaders of Mulembe Nation to lead the Western region.
Ford Kenya Party Secretary General who is also the Tongaren Member of Parliament Dr. John Chikati now calls the Party leader of UDA to call his Secretary-General to order on his utterances unless he enjoys the ongoing theatrics.
“If you see your child abusing his neighbor then know it’s the father who is setting his child to abuse his neighbor,” Chikati insinuated.
Some of the ANC members want Malala to stop attacking the two parties and maintain that the parties will never fold.
“You cannot destroy your mother’s house because you are accommodated in your stepmother’s house. When you are chased from it, you are welcomed home at ANC.” An ANC Member pleaded with Cleophas Malala.
