As election fast approaches, the Iteso community has set the record straight to all the gubernatorial aspirants to consider having one from their community to be the deputy Governor as a condition to bag their support.
Speaking after a closed door meeting in Kimilili, led by their chairman Joseck Okisai, they said it is evident that the Iteso community has grown in the County and therefore need to be recognized through leadership positions too.
He called upon the council of elders from Sabaot, Bukusu, Tachoni and Batura clans to come out and embrace their proposal since the latter have had a shot at the position in the previous and current regime.
His sentiments were echoed by Mzee David Kapule who said that Professor Ngome who is the current deputy Governor has declared to vie for the senatorial position therefore; it is their turn to be awarded the position.
He said as the Iteso community, they have always been humble and have sons and daughters who are qualified to vie in the said position and are therefore calling upon all those in the race to pick running mates from the community in order to get their support.
They asserted that the Mabanga peace accord insisted on the inclusivity factor from all the clans residing in Bungoma County in regard to leadership positions saying they are keen to have it implemented fully.
